Frequently Asked Questions
What is a speaker bureau?
A speaker bureau is a specialist agency that connects organisations with keynote speakers, thought leaders, and industry experts for conferences, corporate events, masterclasses, and brand collaborations. Bureaus handle speaker sourcing, fee negotiation, contracts, and event-day logistics — saving clients time while ensuring the right speaker for every stage. Speakship is a global speaker bureau that goes further with a curated-open model, sourcing any relevant speaker worldwide rather than limiting you to a fixed roster.
What is Speakship?
Speakship is a global speaker curation platform, connecting organizations with thought leaders, innovators, and cultural icons who deliver ideas that inspire, challenge, and transform. We blend data-driven research with human instinct to match the right voice to every stage.
How is Speakship different from a traditional speaker bureau?
While traditional bureaus often work from a fixed roster, we operate with a curated-open model. This means we can source any relevant speaker worldwide, while also maintaining close relationships with an established network of leading voices.
Where are you based? Do you work internationally?
We are headquartered in India and work with clients and speakers across every continent. From Fortune 500 boardrooms to international forums, we operate wherever ideas need a stage.
How do I book a speaker through Speakship?
Submit an enquiry through the speaker's profile page or our contact form. We'll align on your event, budget, and goals, then recommend, negotiate, and secure the best-fit speaker.
Can I request a speaker who isn't listed on your website?
Yes. If your ideal speaker isn't featured, we can approach them on your behalf, negotiate terms, and handle all logistics.
Do you offer exclusive representation for some speakers?
For select speakers, yes. Our core strength is curating and securing voices globally—exclusive or otherwise.
Can I book multiple speakers for one event?
Absolutely. We can design a multi-speaker program or panel to create a richer, more diverse experience for your audience.
What is the process from enquiry to booking?
We confirm your objectives, present tailored recommendations, check availability, negotiate terms, and manage contracts. Once booked, we coordinate all logistics with you and the speaker.
How are speaking fees determined?
Fees vary by profile, demand, location, and scope. We negotiate on your behalf to secure the best possible terms.
Do fees include travel and accommodation?
Typically, fees cover the speaking engagement only. Travel and accommodation are arranged separately unless agreed otherwise in the contract.
Do I have to pay Speakship an extra commission?
No. Our fee structure is transparent—what you see in the proposal is the total payable amount. We are compensated through the speaking fee agreed with the speaker, so there are no hidden commissions or surprise charges for the client.
Do you work with pro bono or honorarium speakers?
Yes. For events, companies, and media forums that engage speakers on a pro bono or honorarium basis, we offer curation and coordination on a management fee model. This ensures the speaker's participation is arranged professionally while covering the costs of sourcing, vetting, scheduling, and managing the engagement.
What payment terms do you offer?
Standard terms are a 50% advance deposit upon booking and the remaining 50% before the event. For international engagements, timelines may vary to accommodate travel arrangements.
Do you help with event theme and topic selection?
Yes. We work closely with you to ensure the speaker's content aligns with your event's goals, audience profile, and overall narrative.
Can you arrange virtual keynotes or panels?
Yes. Many of our speakers offer virtual formats, from live-streamed keynotes to interactive online sessions.
Do you provide marketing or PR support for the event?
We can coordinate with your team and the speaker to facilitate media interviews, social promotions, and press features, depending on availability.
Can you work with nonprofits or educational institutions?
Yes. We regularly work with mission-driven organizations and can often secure special rates or pro-bono participation where appropriate.
What if a speaker cancels due to unforeseen circumstances?
We immediately work to secure an equivalent replacement, or, if preferred, arrange for rescheduling or a refund in line with the contract terms.
How far in advance should I book a speaker?
For high-demand speakers, we recommend booking at least 3–6 months in advance. However, we can often secure last-minute engagements depending on schedules.
