JB Straubel co-founded Tesla, served as its CTO from 2005 to 2019 and founded Redwood Materials, where he is CEO. At Tesla, he led battery-cell design, supply-chain development and the early Gigafactory strategy. Redwood produces key battery materials and deploys energy storage for data centres and the grid. He draws on decisions spanning battery engineering, manufacturing and electricity supply. His experience helps leaders examine circular production, materials security and the role of storage as demand for power rises.
