Sachin Pilot

Leadership is about balancing aspirations with responsibility, inspiring the next generation to rise.

Sachin Pilot

National General Secretary, Indian National Congress; Former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan; Wharton Business School Alumnus

Sachin Pilot is a prominent Indian politician, a national leader in the Indian National Congress, and a seasoned policy strategist. He achieved notoriety at age 26 as the youngest Member of Parliament when he first won election in 2004. His career is a rare blend of public office, military service (as a Captain in the Territorial Army), and high-level corporate education, positioning him as a dynamic voice on governance, economic development, and digital inclusion.

His most significant policy achievement came during his tenure as a Central Minister, where he was instrumental in the passing of the Companies Act, 2013, which introduced the mandatory Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contribution—now estimated to add billions annually toward societal development. He also pioneered the digital transformation of the Indian Postal Service, laying the framework for financial inclusion and expanding broadband internet access to nearly 200,000 village headquarters.

Pilot's leadership acumen is rooted in an interdisciplinary background: he holds a B.A. from St. Stephens College and an MBA from the Wharton Business School. His professional career included consulting with A. T. Kearney, working at the Delhi Bureau of the BBC, and with General Motors. His deep commitment to public service led him to become the first Minister of the Government of India commissioned as a regular officer in the Territorial Army in 2012, serving as a Captain.

As a speaker, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan and World Economic Forum Young Global Leader provides an inspiring message of political commitment and strategic transformation. He draws on his extensive experience—including overseeing public infrastructure and rural development—to share insights on governance, socio-economic development, and the power of leadership in a democracy.
