Dr. Anand S. Rao is a globally recognized AI leader and educator, now Distinguished Service Professor of Applied Data Science & AI at Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College, where he teaches Operationalizing AI, Responsible AI, Applications of LLMs, and Agent-Based Models & Digital Twins. Before CMU, he spent decades at PwC, serving as the firm’s Global Artificial Intelligence Leader and advising C-suites and boards on AI strategy, governance, and adoption across financial services, healthcare, mobility, and more. His work bridges cutting-edge research and enterprise transformation, with a deep track record in responsible deployment at scale.
Anand holds a PhD in AI (University of Sydney) and an MBA (Melbourne Business School). He has co-edited foundational volumes on intelligent agents and published widely on AI, decision intelligence, and ethics. His current focus spans LLM safety and value realization, agent-based simulations for complex systems, and building trustworthy AI programs that deliver measurable ROI.
